Azerbaijan beaten away by Czech Republic in futsal qualifier
Azerbaijan started their 2028 World Cup main qualifying round with a 2-1 defeat away to the Czech Republic, with Ülvi Əliyev scoring their only goal.

Azerbaijan's national futsal team played its first match in the main round of the 2028 World Cup against the Czech national team away. Competing in Group 12, the team lost 2-1 to the hosts at the Hala Polarka Sports Arena in Frydek-Mistek.
Ülvi Əliyev scored the sole goal for the Azerbaijani side in the encounter. The match officials were Peter Nurse from England, Valentin Siuplea from Wales, and Dunkan Maklulliç from Scotland.
Latvia is the other opponent in Group 12 alongside Azerbaijan.
