Yuri Maksimov: escaping the bottom spot won't be easy
New Araz-Naxçıvan head coach Yuri Maksimov admits that lifting the team off the bottom of the table will be a difficult challenge.

Yuri Maksimov has been appointed as the head coach of Araz-Naxçıvan, signing a contract running until the end of the 2026/2027 season. The Ukrainian specialist noted that he is already familiar with the local mentality and players from his previous work in the country, which included winning the Azerbaijan Cup with Keşlə, now known as Şamaxı.
Maksimov stated that he has watched all of Araz-Naxçıvan's matches except for the game against İmişli and plans to hold his first training session with the team the next day, though four players are currently away on national team duty. He emphasized that the immediate objective is to escape the bottom spot of the standings in a competitive league.
