History
İmişli FK is the third club to represent this cotton-farming district in twenty years. MKT-Araz, funded by a cotton processor, reached the 2006-07 Azerbaijan Cup final and played twice in Europe before folding a week before the 2007 season; the same entity returned as Mil-Muğan from 2013 and faded again. The current club was founded in 2022, promoted in 2025, and finished ninth on debut.
In July 2026 it unveiled a new crest that broke deliberately with the cotton imagery: a golden tiger on a navy shield, dark blue for the Araz river, gold for the district's fertility and labour, and "22" for the founding year.

None. Predecessor MKT-Araz played twice — the 2006 Intertoto Cup against FC Tiraspol and the 2007-08 UEFA Cup against Groclin Grodzisk, immediately after which the board announced the club's dissolution.

A Premier League club with no home
İmişli's entire debut top-flight season was played away from İmişli: two "home" games in Şamaxı, fourteen in Quba — a mountain town near the Russian border, on the opposite corner of the country — and none at home. The district's 8,500-seat stadium, opened by the President in 2006, is licensed only to First Division standard.
The win that was erased
On 13 September 2025 İmişli beat Sumqayıt 1-0 in Quba. A substitute came on without his name on the official team sheet; AFFA awarded Sumqayıt a 0-3 technical win and fined the club. It was İmişli's only home win all season — so the official record shows zero home victories in sixteen home matches.
The appetite is there
When the club was finally allowed to play at home during its First Division season in April 2023, three matches in İmişli drew 4,500, 2,500 and 4,500 — among the best second-tier crowds anywhere in Azerbaijan.
