The story
Purpose-built for Qarabağ FK. Qarabağ played at the Imarat Stadium in Agdam until 1993, when the town was invaded by Armenains and the ground destroyed by shelling; they used the Guzanli Olympic Stadium as an interim base before this arena, funded by their sponsor Azersun Holding, opened in September 2015. It has only three grandstands, and the pitch had to be rotated to fit two full-size surfaces onto the old footprint.
Inaugurated 26 September 2015 with Qarabağ 1-1 Neftçi. UEFA Category 3 — too small for Qarabağ's European ties, which are played at Tofiq Bahramov or the Olympic Stadium.
